About Life Education Australia
“My kids have all had the benefit of Life Education, learning about looking after their bodies, and making wise choices…it’s an opportunity every Australian child deserves”
Dr Fiona Wood, A.M.
2005 Australian of the Year
Director of Royal Perth Hospital Burns Unit
An Aussie Success Story
Life Education began nearly 30 years ago on the steps of the Wayside Crisis Centre in Kings Cross, Sydney, where a young woman collapsed from a drug overdose. Ted Noffs, the organisation’s founder, was convinced of the need for a drug education program aimed at preventing children from becoming victims to drug and alcohol abuse. As a result, Life Education started its operations in Sydney in 1979, and has quickly grown to be the largest charity providing drug and health education to Australian children, reaching 700,000 kids each year. It has proven so effective it is now run in thirteen countries around the world including the USA, UK, Hong Kong, New Zealand and South Africa.
