Frequently Asked Questions

What is Ocsober?

Ocsober is a fundraising initiative that encourages people to give up alcohol for the month of October. The money raised goes to Life Education, the organisation behind the iconic educational mascot, Healthy Harold the giraffe. We are a health promotion charity and Australia’s largest independent provider of health and drug education in schools.

Funds raised by our participants (Ocsoberites) goes towards expanding our reach throughout Australia and to service disadvantaged areas.

Participants can also enjoy other health benefits from a month off the booze including feeling healthier and fitter, weight loss and the chance to set a great example to young Aussies.

The idea is to challenge yourself to kick-start healthier habits in October.

Sign up to Ocsober today and together we can make a difference!

How do I sign up?

Registration is FREE – just click here and complete the registration form. You’ll automatically receive a personal Ocsober fundraising page.

Do I have to fundraise?

We are asking all participants to raise a minimum of $700 to educate Australian kids.

The funds you raise will enable Life Education to visit even more schools, empowering more Aussie kids to make better choices to lead healthier and safer lives.

Can I have a night off during October?

Yes, if you wish to drink during October you can purchase a Leave Pass (or your friends can purchase it for you!). You can ‘purchase’ a one night or two night Leave Pass by making a donation to your fundraising page in exchange for some time off! Learn more here.
